Dr. Philip Santiago
The name, Philip T. Santiago, DC, is synonymous with “sports chiropractic.” A virtual trailblazer in that specialized chiropractic area, Dr. Santiago was one of the first chiropractors to be chosen as a member of the US Olympic Team Medical Staff for the Games of the XXV Olympiad in Barcelona, Spain.
Growing up as a child in the Santiago family, dinner conversation invariably turned to the subject of chiropractic. As the son of two chiropractor parents, and the sibling of a chiropractor brother and sister, Dr. Santiago is steeped in chiropractic tradition and an inbred love of helping others to get and stay well.
A graduate of New York Chiropractic College and Fairleigh Dickinson University, Dr. Santiago is a renowned lecturer throughout the United States, Latin America and Europe on the topics of Sports Medicine and Fitness. Dr. Santiago is also a clinical professor and Chairman of the Department of Sports Medicine for New York Chiropractic College.
Named “Chiropractor of the Year” in New Jersey in 1990, he also received the honor of being named “Sports Physician of the Year” by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) in 1993. Most recently, Dr. Santiago received the recognition of his peers when he was inducted into the ACA’s Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in 2005.
Dr. Santiago is no stranger to the sports arena himself, with a background that includes distinction as an All American collegiate and professional soccer player. He also served on the collegiate level as head soccer coach at the New York Institute of Technology and Montclair State University.
Dr. Santiago believes in giving back to his community as well as his profession. He maintains active memberships in the local and county Chambers of Commerce, serves as Vice Chairman of Morris County Crime Stoppers, and organization he helped to found, and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the County College of Morris.
Dr. Santiago is a much sought after lecturer and consultant in sports medicine and anti-aging and is a published author many times over in these specialties. His background also includes serving on the Board of the American Academy on Anti-Aging Medicine.
In his spare time, Dr. Santiago’s hobbies include exercise, aviation, and boating.

Kathleen Holmberg, Office Manager
Kathleen Holmberg serves as the Office Manager at SCA. With a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Springfield College (Massachusetts), Kathleen has been in and around healthcare throughout her professional career.
Kathleen believes in giving back to her community and in her free time enjoys her volunteer opportunities. She is a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a teacher of Religious Education, a high school Grade Parent and also serves on the Borough Communications Committee.
Kathleen and her husband, Peter, live in Mountain Lakes with their four children. She is an avid fan and photographer of whatever sport or activity they may be involved with and can always be found working to crush her Fit Bit step count goals!
Melissa Muilenburg, Massage Therapist
A native of New Jersey, Melissa attended Trinity College in Hartford Connecticut and graduated with a BA in American Studies. She moved to Washington D.C. where she received a J.D. from the National Law Center at George Washington University. Melissa practiced law for 22 years, first in Colorado and then in New Jersey.
After several years of coaching children, adolescents and adults in running, Melissa decided to change her focus to Massage Therapy with an interest in therapeutic and sports massage. She graduated from the Institute of Therapeutic Massage in Haskell, NJ in the October 2009. Her focus of study included Swedish, Medical Massage, Myofascial Release, Sports Massage, Reflexology and Energy Work. Since graduation, Melissa’s practice has primarily focused on athletes.
Melissa is a certified running coach with Road Runners Club of America (“RCCA”). She is also a certified marathon coach with Team in Training, one of the largest national organizations training individuals for endurance events. Through her coaching with Team in Training, she has coached runners to complete half and full marathons. An avid runner herself, Melissa has completed over twenty full and half marathons. She has qualified for the Boston Marathon five times.
Melissa is a member of the Lakers Sports Club and has served as the President for the organization since 2013. She is a member of the Athletic Fitness Committee at the Lakeland Hills YMCA and has served on the Board of Governor at the YMCA since 2012. Melissa has been on the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors since 2014. Melissa currently lives with her husband, and youngest child in Mountain Lakes. Her older two children are graduates of Mountain Lakes High School.
